Inspired by traditional Belgian-style Ales, Orvyn is the richer, more sophisticated end of the Malt Donkey range. Brewed using a specialised saison yeast that demands patience and precision. Rich amber in colour with a creamy, full mouthfeel of savoury flavours. The finish is long, clean and lifted. Built for the table and made for rich food, this ale is best shared amongst great company.
SOIL
The 2023/24 vintage was a challenging one at Pine Hill. Generous June rains (123.6mm) built moisture; late December rains (95.7mm) hit fortunately after the harvest. The early season moisture was retained in large part due to to the unique self mulching soil profile, meaning that the grain was able to bridge the dry mid season. These grains carry Pine Hill's heavy black-clay minerality into the glass with long, persistent intensity.
FINISH
Medium amber with rye bread, spiced cocoa and lemon zest on the nose leading into a soft creamy palate of chocolate dust, earth and cloves with a long clean finish.
Information
Fine Ale sits somewhere between the world of great wine and great beer, structured, age-worthy and built for the table rather than the couch. Each Malt Donkey release is brewed from single-origin barley, grown on a specific South Australian farm, then fermented and matured with the same patience you’d expect from a serious cellar wine.
Shipping
All orders containing this release will be dispatched once the ales are ready to leave the cellar within a week of your order.
